FAQ > General Information > How Often Should I Water My Organic Garden?

Search the FAQ for entries containing:

Because growing conditions vary so widely, there’s just no single, across the board watering regimen that applies to every situation. Small plants may need water daily in hot conditions, while mature plants can go a week or more between watering in cool weather. Your best bet is to poke a finger in the top two inches of soil. If it’s dry, it’s time to water. Remember though, that deep, infrequent watering is much better for a plant, than light, frequent (i.e daily) watering. It encourages roots to reach deeper for water in the time between waterings, and makes for a stronger, healthier plant.
